Protect the IllyVoIP app with App Lock and a relock delay

Enable IllyVoIP App Lock with device biometrics, choose when it locks again and check the difference between relock and sign-out.

App Lock adds a device-authentication check before someone can return to your IllyVoIP app. Choose a relock delay that fits how you use the device, then test it while you still have access to the device’s normal unlock method.

These steps cover the Android app controls in version 1.0.46, build 272. Use your own account and the permissions assigned to it. Other platforms or releases can have different controls.

1. Prepare device authentication

  1. Set up the device’s supported biometric authentication in its own security settings first.
  2. Open IllyVoIP and make sure you are signed in to the intended account.
  3. Open Account → Security and find App lock (biometrics).
  4. If the control is unavailable, check that the device supports and has configured the necessary authentication. Do not assume a disabled switch means the feature has already been enabled.

App Lock is local protection for the app interface. It does not replace your Portal password, two-factor authentication or a SIP password. It also does not change a teammate’s permissions or encrypt files you have exported into another application.

2. Enable App Lock and finish the prompt

  1. Turn on App lock (biometrics).
  2. Complete the device authentication prompt. Canceling or failing this prompt does not successfully enable the feature.
  3. Return to the Security screen and confirm the enabled state.
  4. Keep your normal account recovery information secure; do not treat biometrics as a replacement for access to the account itself.

The device supplies the authentication experience. The exact prompt depends on the operating system and configured method. Do not share a biometric-protected device session as a substitute for giving a colleague their own authorized IllyVoIP login.

3. Choose when authentication is required again

Use Require again to select Immediately, After 1 minute, After 5 minutes or After 15 minutes. Check the value saved on your own device instead of assuming every upgraded installation uses the same default.

  1. Choose the delay deliberately. Immediately provides the shortest return window; longer delays let you move between apps briefly without another prompt.
  2. Leave IllyVoIP for longer than the selected delay without conducting an active call.
  3. Return and confirm that the lock screen requires authentication.
  4. Use Unlock and complete the device prompt to continue.

The delay concerns time away from the app, not an idle countdown that guarantees a lock while you continue using it in the foreground. A cold launch with App Lock enabled requires authentication. Briefly switching away and returning before a longer delay expires is a different case from fully restarting the app.

4. Understand the lock screen

A locked app session is not the same as signing out of IllyVoIP. Use the displayed Unlock action to authenticate. If you deliberately choose Sign out instead, expect to use the normal login flow before returning to the account. Neither action should be used casually to troubleshoot an unrelated paid operation that may still be pending.

App Lock also uses a privacy cover when the mobile app leaves the foreground. Check the behavior on your own device if you share screenshots or use the recent-apps view. Do not rely on it to remove information already copied, downloaded or displayed through other channels.

If authentication does not complete

  • Canceled prompt: return to Unlock and try when you are ready; do not assume the previous attempt succeeded.
  • Device authentication unavailable: review the device’s supported biometric setup and any operating-system message.
  • Unexpected relock timing: read the saved Require again value and repeat one controlled background-and-return test.
  • Unable to access the account after sign-out: use the normal account recovery workflow; changing SIP credentials will not repair a Portal login.

To change the delay or turn App Lock off, first regain access legitimately, then use the Security control and verify the resulting state. For Support, report the app and OS versions, selected delay and exact point where the prompt fails. Never include passwords or recovery codes.
