How to check rates and understand how to use routing plans
Written by Rexhep Arifaj | January 23, 2025At ILLYVOIP, we have more than 20 routing plans supported by over 300 connections. We’ve worked to organize these connections into easy-to-use packages. Each routing plan offers different operators, connections, and rates. In this article, we’ll show you how to find the best routing plan for your needs and check the rates for each one.
How to Access Your Routing Plan Settings
- Click on the Settings icon located in the top right corner of your dashboard.
- Once you’re on the Settings page, navigate to the Routing Settings tab.
This is where you can view and manage your current routing plan.
You can also access the routing plan settings directly by clicking on the routing name (e.g., Special or another plan) displayed on your dashboard. This will take you straight to the Routing Settings page.
There are multiple routing plan options available. To find the best plan and check rates for the country you’re interested in, simply navigate to the Pricing page or use the "Click here to check prices for each plan" link from the Routing Settings page.
As a new user on ILLYVOIP, you start with a default limit of 100 concurrent calls, meaning you can have up to 100 calls active simultaneously. Your concurrent call limit is automatically adjusted based on your traffic health. If needed, this limit can be increased or decreased. Should you require more concurrent calls, contact our support team with details about your traffic to request an increase.
Understanding Billing and Rates
When searching for USA rates under the Platinum package, I found that the price per minute is 0.002 EUR with a 1/1 billing increment. Here's what these terms mean:
- Price per minute (EUR/min): This is the cost per minute of a call. For example, a rate of 0.002 EUR/min means you will be billed 0.002 EUR for every minute of the call.
- Billing Increments Explained:
- 1/1 Increment: Calls are billed per second. Example: A 45-second call is billed as
0.002 EUR × 45 seconds ÷ 60 = 0.0015 EUR
. - 60/1 Increment: The first minute is billed in full, even if the call lasts less than 60 seconds. Example: A 45-second call is billed as 1 minute = 0.002 EUR.
- 60/60 Increment: Calls are billed per full minute. Any partial minute is rounded up to the next full minute. Example: A 45-second call is billed as 1 minute = 0.002 EUR.
- 1/1 Increment: Calls are billed per second. Example: A 45-second call is billed as
This explanation is here to help you understand how you will be billed when you see terms like 1/1, 60/60, or others in your rate plan. As a company, we aim to be fully transparent with our clients. If you have any trouble understanding, don't hesitate to ask live support.
Comparing Routing Plans
To easily compare routing plans and find the best routes for your destinations, we’ve created the Compare Prices table. For example, when searching for France, the table shows the pricing for different routing plans. Each plan offers varying rates for the same destination, helping you choose the one that best suits your needs.
Using the Routing Test Tool
To make it easier for our clients to find the best routes and check Caller ID (CLI) support, we created the Routing Test tool. With this feature, you can check which routing plan works best for your needs and supports local or international CLI.
- Navigate to the Routing Test page.
- Select a country (e.g., France) from the dropdown menu.
- Click Search to see the test results.
From the Routing Test results, you can view two types of tests: Manual Testing and Automated Testing. For example, the Premium route displayed the Caller ID correctly and provided reliable call quality. This information helps you choose the best routing plan when calling France.
What Are Tech Prefixes and How to Use Them?
On the Rates page for each package, you'll notice a Tech Prefix, such as 40001
for the Platinum plan. Tech Prefixes allow you to route calls through specific plans without changing settings on the portal.
How to Use a Tech Prefix?
- Add the Tech Prefix before the phone number you’re calling.
- Example: To call the USA using the Platinum plan (Tech Prefix
40001
): 40001 + 1XXXXXXXXXX. - Example: To call France using the Premium plan (Tech Prefix
40002
): 40002 + 33149527000.
Tip: Tech Prefixes are especially helpful for third-party platforms like PBX systems, dialers, or softphones. They allow you to switch routing plans quickly without adjusting settings on the portal. Learn more here.
