Verify an outgoing caller-ID number in the IllyVoIP app

Request and complete caller-ID verification in the IllyVoIP app, resume a pending verification and distinguish verification from outgoing selection.

Verify a number you control before using it as an eligible outgoing caller ID. The app offers delivery methods based on the number and current service response, then tracks the verification’s expiry and resend state. Verification does not purchase the number or configure incoming calls.

These instructions follow the Android app version 1.0.46, build 272. Available actions depend on your account permissions and current service state. Other installed versions may present different controls.

1. Open caller-ID verification

  1. Open the phone-number caller-ID verification area and start the offered verification action.
  2. Enter the complete international number you control.
  3. Review the number before requesting a code.
  4. Wait for the available delivery methods for that number to load.

The reviewed screen supports the service’s offered SMS, voice or WhatsApp choices; availability is not universal. Choose from the methods actually returned for your number. Do not assume that because a number can receive voice it can receive every other delivery method.

2. Request one code

Choose the intended method and request the verification once. Follow the displayed delivery and pending state. If a voice method is offered, be ready to receive that call; if a messaging method is offered, check the appropriate inbox. Never request a code for a number you are not authorized to verify.

A request acknowledgement does not prove the code reached the handset. Avoid pressing resend repeatedly. The server controls cooldowns, attempts and expiry; changing the device clock or reopening the app is not a way to bypass them.

3. Continue a pending verification

  1. If you leave the screen, reopen the caller-ID verification list.
  2. Find the pending item for the exact number and continue it.
  3. Check the delivery method and remaining time shown.
  4. Enter the current code for that verification, then submit once.

Do not enter a code from a different number or older request. Keep verification codes private and do not include them in screenshots. If the request expired, follow the offered fresh-request action instead of repeatedly submitting the expired code.

4. Handle resend and failures

Wait until the screen permits another request. If a different delivery method is offered, select it deliberately and follow the updated verification state. A failure may be related to eligibility, delivery, expiry or exhausted attempts; read the actual message before choosing the next step.

After a lost response, reopen the existing pending item and inspect its state. Do not create several parallel verifications just to see which one succeeds. For continuing problems, retain the approximate time, number reference, chosen method and sanitized error for Support.

5. Verify success, then choose the outgoing identity

  1. After successful code validation, confirm the number appears in the verified list.
  2. Open the relevant outgoing caller-ID setting for your calling workflow.
  3. Select the verified identity only where it is offered and eligible.
  4. Arrange an authorized test and check the actual caller ID received at the destination.

Verification and selection are different operations. A verified number is not guaranteed to be accepted for every destination or route. It also does not establish ownership transfer, change incoming-number routing or make the number available for inbound SMS.

6. Revoke access deliberately when needed

If you no longer control a number, use its offered revocation workflow and read the impact confirmation. A number currently used for sign-in cannot simply be removed; first complete the account Security workflow for changing the login phone. Review any outgoing configuration that used it and choose another permitted identity. Do not revoke a number merely to retry a delivery issue without understanding the effect on other callers using the account.
