A Yealink W70B has several separate pieces of configuration: its network connection, the handsets registered to it, the SIP account used for IllyVoIP and the lines assigned to each handset. Check them in that order after a reset. Signal bars on a handset alone do not prove that external calling has been restored.
These instructions cover the W70B single-base setup. Do not apply multicell W80/W90 reset sequences to it. A base may serve several people, so agree on a recovery window before changing a shared configuration.
1. Check what the reset actually changed
The linked W70B documentation says its web reset clears configuration but does not delete the base and handset registrations. Other reset methods can have different effects. Do not deregister every handset merely because the SIP account is missing.
- Keep the base powered and connected to the intended trusted network. Wait for it to finish restarting.
- Check whether the intended handset still shows its base registration. Preserve a working pairing.
- Find the current base IP through the supported handset status screen or your network administrator. Open that local address and sign in as the base administrator.
- If the base is centrally provisioned, ask the administrator to restore the approved configuration instead of competing with automatic provisioning.
2. Pair only a handset that has lost its registration
- Identify the correct handset and base before opening registration.
- Put the W70B into registration mode using its registration button until the registration indicator flashes.
- Use the handset’s registration menu to select the intended base and enter the configured base PIN. The base PIN is not the IllyVoIP SIP password.
- Confirm that registration succeeds and close the registration window when finished. If it fails, check range, PIN and registration mode before touching the SIP account.
Handset menu wording varies. The linked W70B setup guide includes the W73H path and separates a W73P kit name from its base and handset components. A replacement handset does not require a factory reset of every working device.
3. Restore the IllyVoIP account on the base
- In the IllyVoIP Portal, open SIP Lines and identify the existing line intended for this base.
- Retrieve its SIP username, SIP password and server securely. Check its current authentication mode and connection details.
- On the W70B, open Account → Register, choose the intended account and enable it.
- For a password-authenticated line, enter its user/authentication identity, SIP password and server. Match the port and transport, save and check registration.
Do not use your Portal login password or the handset’s local number as the SIP password. Match supported audio encryption separately from transport. Replacing the physical base does not, by itself, require another IllyVoIP phone number.
4. Check which handset uses the restored line
On the base’s web interface, open Account → Number Assignment. Review outgoing and incoming assignments for each intended handset, then save. A handset can have an outgoing line without being selected to ring for that line’s incoming calls. Start with one handset and verify its behavior before extending the configuration.
In IllyVoIP, check the active incoming number’s saved destination as well. The base’s assignment cannot fix a number routed to a different SIP identity. Conversely, a correct Portal route does not choose which of several registered handsets should ring.
5. Prove each stage with a small test
- Confirm the handset is registered to the correct base.
- Confirm the base’s selected SIP account is registered to IllyVoIP.
- Place one agreed outgoing call from the intended handset after checking rates and balance. Confirm two-way audio and caller ID.
- Call the active IllyVoIP number from another device and check the intended handset rings.
- Repeat only the necessary test after each correction; do not reset the base again as a substitute for reading the result.
For Support, describe the stage that fails and provide the model, firmware, time and public call reference when available. Keep base PINs, SIP passwords and configuration backups private. The steps use current manufacturer documentation and IllyVoIP controls; physical-device acceptance remains specific to your installation.
